Williamstown Morning Star

The Williamstown Morning Star Dusk artwork by Kerrie Gottliebsen celebrates the iconic Morning Star Hotel, one of the oldest continuously operating pubs in Williamstown. Originally built in the 1890s, the grand hotel boasts old world charm, high ceilings, fireplaces, a stunning double sided public bar, a gorgeous dining room and beer garden.

Shrieks of joy erupted around Williamstown when rumours were heard of the Morning Star’s redevelopment. The pub will soon reopen with a 1970s California-inspired revamp. Matt Vero (Healesville Hotel, Marquis of Lorne) is adding another historic pub to his stable. The venue is set to reopen with a Cali feel and a seafood-heavy classic pub menu.

I’ve enjoyed a few beers and meals there over the years. Sitting outside in the sunshine in the carpark beer garden during the COVID lockdowns was a godsend for locals. The pub is set amidst some beautiful trees which change with the seasons and frame the pub in tranquil hues.
