Newport Lakes History

The area known as Newport Lakes had been a quarry since 1868 and ultimately earmarked to become a rubbish tip. In 1984, two women, both local councillors, decided on an alternate future for the area. Influenced by the Butchart Gardens, Canada the plan for what is now the Newport Lakes conservation area commenced.

Indigenous animals, plants and fairies

The reserve features indigenous animals and plants and a tranquil central lake on the 33 hectare reserve. You’ll find lots of magic at Newport lakes. This includes tiny fairy doors, self guided nature trails and the much loved black swans and cygnets.

The Newport Lakes Swans vintage inspired poster comes in A4, A3, A2. A1 and A0. It would make a beautiful gift for anyone that loves Newport Lakes, Melbourne’s west or those who have fallen in love with the cygnets.
