Description

The Newport Junction Hotel by Kerrie Gottliebsen celebrates the historic pub opposite the station in Hall Street Newport. Now known as the Junction Beer Hall and Wine Room, the pub has a rich history dating back to the 1850s. Originally established as the Junction Hotel, it served as a central gathering place for the Newport community. In 1924-1925, the hotel was rebuilt, resulting in the current structure that stands today.

The Victorian-era hotel is managed by Jackie Mahony and Trina Gilchirst who share a love of craft beer, boutique wines, great food and the Newport community.

Jacki and Trina took over The Junction Hotel in 2011 and transformed it into the popular craft beer, fine wine and dining destination it is today.

Back in the day the pub was a live music venue, and I saw a few bands there myself. Research shows bands that played there in the 1980s include The Elks, Mike Rudd & the Heaters, Shonewall, Broderick Smith’s Big Combo and Jimi and The Human Spectre.

I saw a magnificant Kabuki performer there in the 1990/early 2000s singing fabulous pop covers, however a Google search reveals no further details.

I also happened to meet my partner there (a Tinder date). Eight years later, we are still together and visit the pub occasionally. We used the post office box near the pub in Hall Street Newport to cast our same sex marriage vote, a deserving result for equality, equity and common sense. Love is love.

The Junction Hotel boasts a welcoming Beer Hall with 14 craft beers on tap, an elegant Wine Room, function areas and comfy outdoor spaces, all humming with locals indulging in their favourite food and drinks.

The Newport Juction Hotel artwork can be ordered in A4, A3, A2, A1 and the super enormous A0.
