Description
The Braybrook Flight Central West artwork is dedicated to the iconic RAAF WWII fighter airplane on display at the entrance of Braybrook’s Central West Shopping precinct car park.
Having worked in Footscray for over 12 years, Central West has often been my go to for lunch or some supermarket shopping. It was interesting to research the history of the RAAF in Braybrook.
The former RAAF No 1 Stores Depot, as it was officially known, received, stored, and supplied equipment for the RAAF to other outposts. Prior to being established at Braybrook’s Ashley Street location, the depot had occupied other temporary locations in Spotswood, North Fitzroy, Laverton, Point Cook and Fishermans Bend. Growing considerably with passing time, the RAAF needed a more permanent home for this essential service. The historic location in Braybrook opened its doors on 2 July 1945 and thrived until its closure on 25 June 1993.
The Braybrook Flight Central West artwork would make a great gift for lovers of Melbourne’s West, Braybrook, fighter airplanes, and Melbourne’s aviation history, and is available in A4, A3, A2, A1 and the super enormous A0.
