Description
The Altona Pier Jump artwork by Kerrie Gottliebsen celebrates the wonderful new addition to Altona Beach. Stretching more than 300 metres into Port Phillip, the pier is the perfect summer destination for big and little kids wanting to continue the tradition of jumping or fishing off the pier.
The removal of the old pier marks a transformative moment, with elements set to be repurposed as part of the Council’s foreshore redevelopment upgrades, contributing to public art and furniture installations. The new pier features seating using timber from the old pier. The inclusion of a low landing’s accessible ramp ensures that all members of the community can enjoy the pier and the stunning views back to Altona Esplanade’s Norfolk Pines.
The new pier remains popular with anglers, families and romantic couples. Who knows, we might even see the return of the hundreds of people who in 2016 hit the pier in search of the rare digital Nintendo character known as ‘Snorlax’.
The artwork comes in A0, A1, A2, A3 and A4 and would make a wonderful addition to any bayside home. The poster also makes a wonderful gift for lovers of Altona Beach and Melbourne’s Western suburbs.
