Description
The Yarraville Mouth Organ Band Sky artwork celebrates one of my favourite landmarks in Yarraville. The band hall at 203 Williamstown Road has stood since being built by members in 1956-57. The clubroom’s brick wall featuring the iconic signage, stands proudly between the Yarraville tennis courts and the footy ground.
The clubroom is named after Arthur Cardell, a secretary for 32 years and president for 18 years, though he never played the mouth organ himself. The band was established in 1933 by Ernie Weybury after he saw 12-year-old Lindsay Luscombe playing his mouth organ in the street. A local music shop donated a dozen harmonicas and the Yarraville Mouth Organ Band was officially on the way.
The club continues to welcome new members (info below).
The Yarraville Mouth Organ Band Sky artwork can be ordered in A4, A3, A2, A1 and the super enormous A0.
